However, no one will ever tell you that becoming a Mumma for the first time isn’t without its challenges. It does take a lot out of you both physically and mentally and may have an effect on your body that you want to change in the long run.

This is where the mommy makeover comes in. Undergoing a mummy makeover with a respected cosmetic surgeon in Sydney may help restore some of the confidence you had in your body before pregnancy, and this is one of the reasons why it has become popular with mums across the city.

But what exactly is a mummy makeover? And what are some things to consider before you go in for your treatment?

What, exactly, is a mummy makeover?

A mummy makeover is a series of procedures designed to return your body to the place it was pre-pregnancy. It can involve one, some, or all of the following:

⦁ Breast augmentation
⦁ Breast lift
⦁ Breast reduction
⦁ Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck)

Things to know before you undergo a mummy makeover

Your reputable highly experienced Sydney cosmetic surgeon will be able to provide you with a detailed pre-procedure preparation list.

But here are some of the things you can expect to do before your procedure/procedures:

Eat healthily

Just as you want to live a healthy, nutritional life in general, it’s also a very good idea to keep up the nutrition before going into your mummy makeover.

Your body needs plenty of essential nutrients and vitamins to ensure it is fully prepared and can recover well from the procedures you will be undergoing, so it is important to eat plenty of leafy greens, nuts, seeds, and protein foods like meat, eggs, and fish to prep your body for the makeover.

You want to be wardrobe-ready

You may be undergoing one or multiple cosmetic procedures – you will want to be comfy on the day! Your cosmetic surgeon will most likely suggest wearing loose, elastic pants that won’t be restrictive when you need to rest as well as a button or zip-up shirt that provides easy access to the stomach and chest.

Your surgeon will also strongly suggest that you purchase compression clothing to help reduce swelling and keep the blood circulating in your recovery period.

You may need a friend’s help

You’re going to need to take your time to recover and recover properly. This means, in the first few days post-procedure you will have to lay around and get plenty of rest.

It may be tempting to immediately try and get back into your normal life but please, take this time above any other time to relax and heal! This will mean enlisting the help of a friend or loved one to ensure that you get home safely from the clinic as well as take care of the chores or errands you would normally do if you weren’t recovering from a mummy makeover!

Give up any vices

Of course, it’s likely that you gave up smoking during childbirth, and you may even only indulge in the occasional glass of wine now that you’ve got the bub, but be sure to give it a miss before your procedures!

Alcohol (and cigarettes) are bad for us, duh, and they can impede your body’s ability to recover quickly from the procedure!
